Objectives

 

Unit Goals:

 

  • Students use technology in a cooperative, collaborative and innovative way to construct and share knowledge, to create a presentation together which is creative, informative and visually stimulating.

  • Students learn to use technology to share and show their progress as they give and receive feedback on their language output and their use of Google Slides.

  • Students use technology outside of the classroom to continue building up a sense of cooperation and community and to provide support and encouragement. 

 

Objectives

 

Language learning objectives:

The learner can:

  • Notice and correct errors both in his/her output and in others’, especially those which lead to misunderstandings or those which are made frequently. The learner can explain why the output is ungrammatical and attempt to provide the correct form.

  • Give feedback and follow up statements when working with other students both in person and in an online forum. The learner demonstrates an ability to work cooperatively and constructively with group members by actively giving and providing feedback in a positive manner.

  • Demonstrate an effort to use a variety of cohesive devices and linking words in order to improve coherence and smoothly link sentences together into a clear, connected dialogue, marking the relationships between ideas and develop arguments systematically by highlighting significant points and relevant supporting details.

 

Content-learning objectives:

The learner can:

  • Demonstrate a well-rounded and critical understanding of the aspect of British culture that he/she has been asked to present on. The learner is able to relate personal experience with the information that he/she has gained from the research to present new ideas and reach conclusions about aspects of British culture.

  • Apply his/her knowledge by answering questions related to the topic of research in a manner that demonstrates connecting of ideas, critical thought, and an effort to achieve a deep understanding of the content.

 

Technology-learning objectives:

The learner can:

  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and experiment with new technologies by working collaboratively with group members to create and present an interesting and visually-stimulating presentation.

  • Demonstrate an effort to master the new technology by providing research and multimedia resources from a variety of credible sources, and by using the Google Slides program to a full extent, through the use of its chat and comment functions outside of class time.
